Cyclone “Emil”: heavy hail in Ancient Nemea


Cyclone Emil, which hit Greece since yesterday, was accompanied by showers, thunderstorms and hail in several areas of the country.

Wind in the northern Aegean Sea, it will initially blow from the east with a force of 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, but will gradually change to 2 to 4 from the north. In the central part of the Aegean Sea, winds will initially blow from the south from force 3 to force 5, but in the morning they will become westerly with the same intensity. In the South Aegean Sea, winds will blow from western directions from 3 to 5 points, in the morning – from 4 to 6 points. In the Ionian Sea, winds will initially blow from the south to force 3, but from midday they will become westerly from 2 to 4, and in the south from 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale.

In Attica cloudy skies expected at times with the possibility of light precipitation. The wind will blow from the west at a speed of 2-4 points, but from the second half of the day it will become variable up to 3 points. The concentration of dust in the atmosphere will be relatively high. Temperatures in the center of Athens will range from 11 to 19°C.

Cloudy weather is expected in Thessaloniki prefecture. Light localized showers will occur through the afternoon. The wind will blow from the east up to 3 points, but in the second half of the day it will become variable up to 2 points. Temperatures in the center of Thessaloniki will range from 11 to 15°C.
