Rain and hail expected this evening – emergency weather forecast


Meteorologists warn of worsening weather in Greece. The National Weather Service issued an emergency advisory predicting rain and hail.

According to the forecast of ΕΜΥ, The weather will worsen from Sunday evening to early Tuesday morning, heavy rain will occur in some regions. Bad weather will start from the west and quickly spread to the central and eastern parts of the mainland, the Cyclades and Crete, and gradually to the islands of the eastern Aegean and Dodecanese. The phenomena will be accompanied by an increase in south-easterly winds up to 7 points on the Beaufort scale, in some places up to 8 points and possibly hail. Conditions favor the transfer of African dust.

Heavy rain and storms are expected on Sunday 25 February in the evening on the Ionian Islands, western and southern Peloponnese, western Crete.

On Monday 26 February from early morning, rain and storms are forecast in central Macedonia, Thessaly (mainly in the east), eastern Sterea (temporarily including Attica), Cyclades, Crete (mainly in the south), temporarily in western Macedonia and the Peloponnese, gradually weakening in the afternoon . From mid-day, bad weather will affect the islands of the eastern Aegean Sea (from Chios and south) and the Dodecanese.

On Tuesday 27 February intense phenomena will continue in the morning in the southern regions of the Dodecanese and gradually weaken by midday.
