First marriage between women in Greece

Danae Deligeorgi (left) and Alexia Beziki are the first women to marry in Greece. The announcement was officially published in the newspaper.

This is the second same-sex wedding to take place in Greece since the marriage equality law was passed. The first marriage between men took place in Nea Smyrni. The “first swallow” is followed by the first marriage between women. In “Εφημερίδα των Συντακτών” there is a corresponding message, but it does not indicate a specific date for the ceremony. The announcement states that “the wedding will take place in the municipality of Athens, where the two women live.”

We are talking about educational psychologist Danae Deligeorgi and actress Alexia Beziki. However, the civil marriage department of the Athens municipality has not yet received a corresponding request for the marriage of the two women.

“First of all, we are people,” Danae Deligeorgi said on the TV show. Last month, Danaya Deligeorgi appeared on Contra and spoke about same-sex marriage not only as a member of the LGBTI community, but also as an expert through her professional skills as a psychologist. Referring to the Prime Minister’s statements regarding the bill, Danae Deligeorgi said: “I heard the words of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with great joy” as “every step forward is acceptable, encouraging and encouraging.”

Addressing the challenges faced by members of the LGBT community at the state level, she said a step forward, “be it a millimeter or a kilometer, is acceptable.” “First of all, it is a person, so when we discuss LGBTI marriage, we are talking about the marriage of people,” said the educational psychologist, “so a person has rights. And this is what distinguishes people from animals.”

“The laws help, it’s a great boost for education and awareness,” she said, noting that every country that has legalized same-sex marriage has made progress in education on these issues.

She concluded: “To move forward, we need to realize that the members who make up society are human beings, and no aggressive label deprives us of our humanity. Since the underlying principle is ‘I am a man’, equality of rights is evident to all, and the legislative step promotes this.”
