The anger and indignation of the Greek Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni was caused by a fashion show at the British Museum: fashion models walked in front of the Parthenon sculptures.
Ms Mendonis reacts sharply to ‘zero respect for masterpieces’ quotes newsbeast.gr:
“By organizing a fashion show in the halls where the Parthenon sculptures are displayed, the British Museum once again proves its zero respect for the masterpieces of Phidias. The directors of the British Museum are vulgarizing and insulting not only the monument, but also the universal values that it conveys. The conditions for exhibiting and storing sculptures in the Duveen Gallery are constantly deteriorating. The time has come for these stolen and abused sculptural masterpieces to shine in the Greek light.”
