Greece enters Indian tourism market


Greece is making a strong comeback in the big Indian market thanks to EOT’s participation in the international travel exhibition Outbound Travel Market -OTM 2024, which took place in Mumbai, India from February 8 to 10.

The stand of the Greek Tourism Organization was awarded the “Best Decoration Award”. After four years of absence from outbound tourism exhibitions due to the pandemic The organization’s participation in the 2024 OTM (Outbound Travel Market) underscores Greece’s commitment to a dynamic return to the international tourism market, promoting its cultural heritage, unique attractions and the wealth of vibrant experiences the country has to offer to travelers from around the world.

Particular emphasis is placed on emerging tourism market in India. The expanded presence at the exhibition included co-exhibitors from Greece such as Hatta (Association of Greek Travel Agencies), as well as the presence of representatives from the Athens Convention Bureau – This is Athens, Hellenic Memories Travel Services, Mazi Travel- Travel & Events and Travel Factory, as well as ASIT-Anatolia Travel (Anatolia Hospitality Group) Greece, TourGreece and Sanmed Travel Hub.

Over the course of three days, many meetings were held with management and travel agencies that had expressed interest in Greece, with a focus on wedding and film production organization, as well as with Indian market influencers. The meetings emphasized the importance of speeding up the issuance of visas, as well as facilitating the expected direct air links between the two countries.

Reportedly EOT has included India as a target market for tourism expansion. Following high-level talks between the prime ministers of the two countries in August 2023, both countries stepped up efforts to strengthen economic and tourism ties, and promote cultural exchange.

EOT executives present at the exhibition noted: “Our participation in OTM 2024 was critical to promoting Greece among Indian travelers. We are committed to further strengthening our presence in India and offering a personalized experience. Greece aims to become one of the leading honeymoon destinations by leveraging our rich history, stunning landscapes and warm hospitality to create unforgettable memories for Indian travellers.”

EOT’s participation in OTM 2024 culminated in them receiving the Best Decoration Award. The ceremony took place on the last day of this year’s event, during which companies, tourism offices and national tourism organizations were awarded for their contributions and work.

The award was presented by Rajasthan Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, who earlier visited the booth accompanied by Sanjeev Agarwal, Founder and CEO of Fairfest Media, the organizing company of OTM.
