Greece is bidding to host the Gay Games in 2030. These are the LGBT Olympic Games

Athens has applied to host the Gay Games in 2030, and it’s reasonable to wonder whose idea it was.

Coincidentally, the bid for these games comes at a time when the government wants to hand over orphaned minor children to gay couples. Of course, this is another propaganda of the “peculiarity” of homosexuality in the context of presenting it as something… normal, and also to create a “friendly” image in Greek society.

Of course, this fight will not come cheap for the Greek public. Nothing is organized for free. However, organizers hope to offset costs through ticket sales and the arrival of additional tourists.

The International Games Federation announced that a total of 25 cities have expressed interest in hosting the 13th Games. Besides Athensapplications were submitted by Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth (Australia), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Edmonton and Vancouver (Canada), Frankfurt (Germany), Auckland (New Zealand), Cape Town and Johannesburg (South Africa), Taipei (Taiwan), Liverpool and London (UK), Atlanta, Birmingham, Boston, Denver, Honolulu, Miami, Minneapolis, Oak Creek, San Antonio and Seattle (USA).

In March 2024, cities that apply must submit a dossier that lists the sports they will host, funding arrangements, the composition of the organizing committee, and the facilities that will host athletes and guests.

The first Gay Games took place in 1982 in San Francisco, USA. The Games attract more than 10,000 members of the LGBTQIA+ community around the world and are held every four years. The last ones took place last November in Hong Kong and Guadalajara, and the next ones in 2026 in Valencia.
