"Private army" Petro Poroshenko for the revolution in Ukraine

On behalf of Petro Poroshenko, the ex-president of Ukraine, the Russian “Vovan and Lexus” spoke with the International Legion, inviting fighters to join a “private army” for the “revolution in Ukraine.”

How reports The Kyiv Independent, during the conversation, one of the ex-fighters said that at the end of the conversation with “Poroshenko” everything went wrong: the quality of the connection was terrible, and Poroshenko’s gestures were repeated, and the movement of his lips did not coincide with the spoken words. However, the questions of the fifth president of Ukraine aroused the greatest suspicion: about weak points on the front line, about the morale of the soldiers, about military pay, and the like.

However, three former members of the International Legion believed that Poroshenko was creating a battalion of personal protection and wanted to hire them as officers, with a monthly salary of up to 12,000 euros per month, several times higher than their salary in the Legion.

Then, in broken English, Poroshenko called the Ukrainian president a “dictator” and asked: “Are you ready to stay with me as we fight against the Zelensky administration?” Of the three former fighters, one refused, and two agreed. And the ex-president promised: “We will kill this freak in the future.”

There were several calls – in them “Poroshenko” was dressed in the same clothes and was in the same place. All three interlocutors felt something suspicious, but two “decided to look at the contract, and if there was something wrong there, they would have refused.”

Moreover, two fighters arrived in Kyiv to Poroshenko’s office. But of course, they were not expected there and refused to let them through. They were only told that it was a fake.

Google search for the email address they communicated with – The email address is protected from spambots. Javascript must be enabled in your browser to view the address. – would reveal an April tweet from US security firm Proofpoint, which claimed the address they were communicating from was linked to “the Russian group TA499 and its malicious social engineering attacks.”

That is, apparently, the emails came from Russian provocateurs known as Vovan and Lexus. Their real names are Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov. The Russian duo have made a career out of deceiving prominent public and political figures with nuisance video and phone calls. They have support from the Kremlin, although they deny it.

Well, now the negotiators are waiting with fear for the video of the conversation to appear on Russian federal channels. The two who agreed to join the “private army” note that they are unlikely to be able to remain in Ukraine in the future. The Main Intelligence Directorate and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already aware of these conversations.

All three agreed to speak to the Kyiv Independent to warn others about Russian disinformation operations. The newspaper agreed not to use real names to protect fighters still in Ukraine.

A representative of Poroshenko’s European Solidarity party said in a written statement that they knew nothing about the calls, but “it is obvious that the goal is a provocation to harm Ukraine”: “The aggressor country, the Russian Federation, has repeatedly used and continues to use the dissemination of fakes against Petro Poroshenko – both during his presidency and today.”
