Thessaloniki: a janitor found and returned a wallet containing 490 euros


Community worker Despina Strongili found the wallet and, without hesitation, handed it over to the competent authorities.

A wallet containing 490 euros, as well as personal documents, was found and immediately handed over to a nearby police station by a janitor of the municipality of Kalamaria (eastern district of Thessaloniki). Despina Strongili, while on duty in the Εθνικής Αντιστάσεως area, found a wallet early on the morning of Friday, January 12, which she handed over without a second thought to the competent authorities, who, in turn, notified the owner of the “find.”

The utility worker received congratulations from the municipal authorities of Kalamaria. The deputy mayor for cleanliness and recycling said he was “proud of the morale and integrity of the staff.”

And another similar incident in the municipality of Thessaloniki. A cleaner at the municipality of Neapolis-Sikeon in Thessaloniki found and handed over a wallet containing 1,500 euros. According to the municipality, 44-year-old Pantelis Khouridis found the wallet and, without thinking twice, reported it to his superiors. The identification card inside the wallet identified the owner. Thus, the find was immediately returned to the citizen.
