A 54-year-old woman, who was found in possession of a cache of illegal pyrotechnics, was detained in the area of western Thessaloniki by police officers from the firearms and explosives department.
The accused kept 2,266 pyrotechnic items. A citizen was arrested yesterday morning for violating the flares and fireworks law, police said in a news release today. Her arrest followed investigations into the fireworks trade.
During the police investigation, it turned out that the store selling this category of goods acted without complying with the established provisions of the law. When checking the territory of an unlicensed warehouse, it was found that “the necessary safety measures are not observed there, and there are 2,266 pyrotechnic products” that were confiscated. Samples of the seized fireworks will be sent to the Northern Greece Criminal Investigations Sub-Directorate for laboratory testing.
