Court documents unsealed in the case of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein include many celebrities, including astrophysicist Stephen Hawking.
After Judge Loretta Preska ruled in December that they could be unsealed and there were no objections, the first set of court documents was made public on Jan. 3. They consist largely of court filings and depositions taken after Virginia Ufre filed a lawsuit in 2015 against Epstein’s former mistress Gizlaine Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for human trafficking and facilitating the abuse of girls on his behalf. .
One of the dossiers released this week contains details about a woman named Joanna Soberg, who Sky News says is another alleged victim of Epstein.
This dossier mentions celebrities and famous actors, politicians and philanthropists, from astrophysicist Stephen Hawking to Michael Jackson. Most of them are not accused of any crimes, but are believed to have known or been associated with Epstein, or to have been at the financier’s home or parties.
Epstein was arrested in 2005 and later found dead in his New York jail cell while awaiting trial on human trafficking charges.
