Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot after a government meeting. The press secretary of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Matej Neumann, announced an attempt on the life of the head of the Slovak government.
How reports Aktuality edition, the wounded prime minister was taken to the hospital by helicopter. Shots rang out in front of the cultural center where the government meeting in the city of Gandlova, in the western part of the republic, when the prime minister came out to the people. According to a journalist from the Aktuality publication, he did not see the incident, but was nearby and heard several shots. He then saw guards lift Fico from the ground, put him in a car and drive away. Fico was wounded about three times in the shooting, allegedly in a limb, chest and abdomen, the newspaper reported. The probable attacker was detained by the police, who cordoned off the surrounding area. At the same time, those present in the cultural center were evacuated. Security took care of the safety of other government members.
