Increasing pensions, salaries and benefits: who, when and how much will receive

The vast majority of government employees and retirees will receive (or have already received) increases due to the salary increase.

At the same time, some private sector workers will also see more money in their accounts, such as those who worked the full 3 years after the measure was unfrozen, as well as those paid the minimum wage in the second year.

Increased salaries for January 2024 will be accrued, in particular, to 630 thousand civil servants – for the first time in 14 years – and about 1.8 million pensioners. The total amount of income support for the whole year will be 2.5 billion euros. Which categories of citizens will see an increase in income:

• Civil servants: in accordance with the new salary scale for civil servants, from January 2024 they will receive an increase in the basic salary of 70 euros, an increased child benefit from 20 to 50 euros, as well as an indirect increase from 6.4 to 18.3 euros (due to with a reduction in the tax deduction) due to an increase in the tax-free amount by 1000 euros for families with children. As can be seen from the new payroll, the average annual payment per employee is 2,084 euros “dirty” or 1,476 euros “clean”.
• Pensioners: About 1.8 million people who do not have a “personal difference” will receive an increase in their monthly benefit amount of approximately 3% from January 1, 2024.
• Cancellation of the “fine” for working pensioners: The 30% reduction in pensions has been abolished and replaced with a 10% contribution (as an additional remuneration they will receive for working).
• Three years of work experience: The unfreezing measure applies over time, starting January 1, to more than 600,000 minimum wage workers.
• Minimal salary: A new minimum wage increase estimated to be between 5% and 6%. The corresponding procedure will begin at the end of January 2024 and will be implemented from May 2024. Taking into account these percentage increases, the new salary will range from 820 to 830 euros. And the amount of the increase of 120-130 euros was left for 2027, in the form of the goal of achieving the minimum wage (950 euros).
• Minimum guaranteed income: an 8% increase in the minimum guaranteed income has already been given. The measure concerns 200 thousand citizens living on this money.

Finally, there is a reduction ENFIA by 10% for those who have insured their property against natural disasters.
