Norwegian police killer: “In Greece, anyone can kill anyone they want”

“In Greece you are a b… And anyone can stab anyone they want.”, he allegedly told the victim before stabbing him. This phrase makes you think about the image the country has created over the past decades so that people of low quality choose it even for permanent residence.

“I didn’t want to kill him. I’m in shock. I was under the influence of alcohol. I have mental health problems. I don’t remember what happened. I tried to defend myself in the confusion that arose. Now I have learned about the death of a policeman.” – the perpetrator of the brutal crime said in his testimony to homicide investigators, ThessToday reports.

There are many questions for the Norwegian.

According to evidence, he lived in Greece for 9 years, being “invisible” to the Greek state, while it is known that he was constantly drunk! The fact that he had a specialized knife with him, which he not only knew how to use, but was also confident that he would use it, and even with fatal results, raises additional questions. Where did he get this knowledge and experience? What did he do in Greece during his 9 year stay there?

The suspect refused to give a statement to police while he waited for his lawyer. Even this shows that he has both self-control and experience to match.

How the fight started

According to ThessToday, it all allegedly started when the man turned to the police officer and his best man and said: “In Greece you are a b… And anyone can stab anyone they want.” According to the same reports, the officer responded by telling him, “No, that’s not true.” After a few seconds, the attacker stood up and attacked the two men with a hidden dagger.

What the autopsy showed

“Extensive bleeding as a result of puncture of blood vessels,” according to a forensic examination, was the cause of death of a 32-year-old policeman who was attacked by a Norwegian citizen with a stabbed dagger at dawn in a bar in Thessaloniki. According to the forensic expert’s findings, the vessel was damaged by a blow to the victim’s left cervical region, and death occurred instantly.

According to the materials of the case opened against the Norwegian by the Department for Combating Crimes against Life in Thessaloniki, the killer’s knife was confiscated and is of the “push dagger” type. Police sources said the knife is classified as a “concealed carry weapon” because it is designed to be held in a closed-palmed hand.

The same situation in Norway

Eleven years ago, in 2010, this same man was involved in a brutal episode very similar to the one in Thessaloniki, where he stabbed an unfortunate policeman to death. He got into a wild fight in an Oslo nightclub and punched a man in the face. Due to the large rings he wore on his fingers, he caused serious injuries to the victim.

For this attack, he was found guilty of assault causing bodily harm and sentenced to 90 days in jail. He filed an appeal, which was rejected. Since 2010, this no longer appears to be a concern for the Norwegian authorities.

For the last 9 years, he says, he has been living permanently in Thessaloniki on medical benefits from the Norwegian state due to the mental problems he says he faces.

He laughs and leans over to show me that the roots are blond and he dyed them. From the first moment I was amazed by his hands, he wore huge metal rings on each finger of both hands. These are iron knuckles, one hit and half of your face is broken.

Okay, I say, the guy is always armed, let’s see what he says. We are catching up, all this was five or six years ago, and I deliberately turn the conversation to shootings. A knife is simple, he tells me at one point, most people take it out and move it in front of them. He was absolutely right. A hardened killer, he finally killed. It was only a matter of time.”

Greek police from the outset asked for information about the killer’s past in Norway, as well as his claims of psychological problems. According to reports, the Norwegian authorities have given the first oral briefing, but a formal written briefing is expected as part of established procedures.

Serious charges
On Friday morning, the killer crossed the threshold of the Thessaloniki City Court, and the prosecutor charged him with premeditated murder. In addition, the prosecutor brought charges of carrying and using weapons, which were transferred to the investigating judge, from whom he asked and received a deadline to testify on Saturday.

Speaking earlier to reporters, lawyer Theodoris Karagiannis stressed that his client’s main position was that he had no intention to kill. According to him, late yesterday evening he informed the criminal that the policeman had died from his injuries. According to Karagiannis, he claims that at the moment when he attacked with a knife, they tried to hit him, and that there was a fight between them.
