On the Norwegian who killed a policeman: “He drank and caused problems”

Photos of the 44-year-old Norwegian man who stabbed a 32-year-old policeman to death in a bar in the early hours of Thursday morning have been released.

According to some locals, the Norwegian who stabbed a police officer in the neckhas lived in Greece for the past few years and has caused trouble in the past.

“He was well known in the area. He was known by the guy who came for coffee in the morning. He’s been here for about nine years, on welfare from Norway, and probably couldn’t make ends meet there and came here.”said one shop owner in the area.

“He caused problems before. Once in Ladadik he was beaten by a friend of a guy who came for coffee. He is hairy, thin, his body is covered with tattoos. He was always drunk, and his knife was always with him. He had a goal, and He had a push dagger type knife with him.” – he noted.

Shortly after 4.30am, MAT officers – stationed right next to the bar – heard the screams, rushed to the rescue and arrested the Norwegian man, who they discovered had just fatally stabbed a fellow police officer.

According to reports, the murder occurred after the Norwegian – after an argument for an as yet unknown reason – first stabbed the policeman’s best man, with whom he was in a bar, in the leg. When the policeman tried to intervene to protect his best man, the Norwegian also stabbed him in the neck, causing the policeman to die minutes later.

Initial findings from the coroner’s examination of the officer’s body indicated that he had been shot in the left windpipe, with an autopsy expected.

The weapon used to kill the Norwegian was a “push dagger” type knife. This type of knife is a short-bladed dagger with a T-handle designed to be grasped and held in a closed fist with the blade protruding from the front of the fist. This is a stealthy and very dangerous weapon due to the possibility of unexpected use.

Meanwhile, according to the police, the criminal, who took the life of a policeman for a trivial reason and was arrested a few minutes later, was heavily intoxicated and could not give a statement to the police until this morning. He is expected to be brought before the prosecutor during the day or on Friday and then before the investigating judge.
