KKE about the Greek frigate in the Red Sea: “You are involving the country in dangerous imperialist plans”

The KKE sharply criticized the Greek frigate mission in the Red Sea, previously announced by Nikos Dendias, calling it involvement in dangerous imperialist plans.

“Sending a Greek frigate to the Red Sea, under the pretext of safety of navigation and protection of merchant ships, draws the country even deeper into dangerous imperialist plans, which at this stage are directly related to supporting the murderous policies of the State of Israel.”said the Greek Communist Party.

“Both this and other missions of Greek warships in the Eastern Mediterranean and elsewhere within NATO formations prove the true purpose of the supply of warships and other weapons programs for which the Greek people pay in gold, – added to the party.- Greek ships or other military units have no business being involved in missions that have nothing to do with the defense of the country and the protection of its borders. Stop all participation immediately!”

Athens news reported on December 20 that that the Greek government is sending warships to the Red Sea against the Houthis.

In a meeting with reporters, commenting on the escalation of attacks by Yemeni rebels on merchant ships in the Red Sea, Greek Minister of Shipping and Insurance Policy Christos Stylianides said it was a serious problem. He added that Greece is ready to participate in any international initiative to ensure the safety of navigation.

Stylianidis commented on the decision of the American side to announce the creation of a coalition in the Red Sea called “Guardian of Prosperity” (“Φύλακας της Ευημερίας”). On Monday, the US Secretary of Defense announced the creation coalition of 10 countries in the Red Sea to combat repeated attacks by Yemeni Shiite rebels on ships they claim are “linked” to Israel.

As Lloyd Austin clarified in a press release issued by his office at the Pentagon, in addition to the United States, the alliance includes France, Great Britain, Bahrain, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Great Britain and the Seychelles.
