Kasselakis: “The Prime Minister must answer whether there will be an agreement for 500 thousand workers from Pakistan”

Stefanos Kasselakis wrote in a post on social media: “The Minister of State of Pakistan has informed us that he has agreed with the Minister of Labor Adonis Georgiadis to bring 500,000 Pakistanis to our country to work in the construction sector.”

“Since even an unresolved issue is more credible than Adonis Georgiades, – commented the Chairman of the PS SYRIZA, – I directly ask the Prime Minister two things:

  • confirm or deny the official position of the Minister of State of Pakistan;
  • apologize for every word he has spoken against Syriza over the years on the issue of migration.”

Kasselakis noted that “ND sold fences (on the border), hatred and intolerance (against migrants) during the election campaign in order to exploit the fear of many of our fellow citizens and, as a result, steal their votes.” SYRIZA President claims that “Once again it has been proven that SYRIZA is a party that speaks the truth.”

Earlier in the afternoon, Pakistan’s Labor Minister, in a post on X, said that there is no agreement between Pakistan and Greece to import labor from his country.

There is no formal agreement or even agreement between Greece and Pakistan regarding the participation of any Pakistani migrant worker in the Greek construction industry. Adonis Georgiadis and I have explored the possibility of future collaboration. Personally, I was deeply impressed by Mr. Georgiadis’ honesty, patriotism and desire to create new opportunities for his country.” he wrote in a post on “X”.

The problem is different, the Pakistani minister with whom Georgiadis recently had a meeting, in fact “set up” A. Georgiadis, saying “We are sending 500,000 construction workers to Greece.” He posted a post on Platform X depicting his meeting with Adonis Georgiadis and wrote the following, verbatim:

“My meeting with the Greek Minister of Labor @AdonisGeorgiadi was extremely productive in terms of finding strong partnerships. We are focused on meeting Greece’s need for 500,000 skilled workers, especially in the construction sector. InshaAllah (God willing) we will sign a G2G agreement with Greece, which will open up huge employment opportunities for our Pakistanis in Greece.”

The link to “construction sector”since the government has so far claimed that the bill concerns 30,000 foreigners who will work in agricultural work because (as they say) “The Greeks don’t work.”

It seems that Georgiadis has once again fallen into the trap of his words, making, as is his wont, ambiguous statements. However, as we have already written several times, most likely this is a ploy by Mitsotakis in order to direct the wave of indignation of the population towards Adonis Georgiadis, for whom any accusations are “like water off a duck’s back.”
