Wolves scattered throughout Greece: they came to a field in Serres when a farmer was working in it

Currently, wolves are causing many problems outside urban areas in Eastern Macedonia and especially in Serres, constantly attacking domestic animals (dogs, sheep, cattle, etc.), regardless of the presence of people.

As the following video shows, wolves are not afraid to approach people. In particular, you can see how a pack of wolves invaded a field while a farmer was working in it.

Plowing with wolves

A man was plowing the land, driving his tractor, and suddenly he saw that animals were looking at him and walking next to the machine. The horrifying scene took place in Metohi Serres, one of the areas where wolves are often found. The farmer said that the wolves were not afraid of the presence of the man and his car, but remained in place, watching him.

According to him, there is nothing strange about seeing wolves in the area, but the paradox is that, on the one hand, their population has increased, but on the other, the wild animals seem to have become very accustomed to the presence of people. It is typical that, according to him, the animals ran after his car wherever he drove until late at night, when he finished his work.

Horror

In their latest attack, wolves mauled two dogs in Serres. Residents of the area are in despair, they have contacted the relevant authorities and are attracting the attention of those living in Metohi, the Agia Varvara Valley, Ano Kamenikia and Melenikiotik.

Wolves can hunt alone or in pairs and, in fact, usually have greater hunting success than large packs. It happened that single individuals without outside help overcame large prey.

Wolves are common throughout the country, and it is only a matter of time before an accident with a person occurs. In Parnitha their presence has been confirmed since 2015 and they prey on the red deer that now dominate the mountains. There are estimated to be more than 30 wolves on the same mountain, up from 8 a few years ago. They are not afraid of people, they are not deterred by human activity, and they view domestic animals as a source of food.
