Inside "hell house"where the animals lived

Residents, animal welfare organizations and authorities were aware of the existence of a “hell hole” in Agrinio, where dozens of dogs and cats lived in deplorable conditions for many years.

Actually, these same people also maintain the territory in Panetolio, where the picture is the same. There is garbage everywhere, corpses and living animals struggling to survive.

Three complaints

According to the Greek edition Ethnos, three complaints have been filed regarding this disgusting pet situation – in 2015, 2021 and this year, 2023. According to Marianna Sotiriadi, the woman who filed the complaint this year spent years fighting for these animals along with Nicoletta Cordatu of the Agrinio Humane Society.

A complaint to the authorities was filed on October 27, 2023, and the next day the green light was given to temporarily remove the animals from the house in the city of Agrinio.

Sotiriadi claims that a complaint was also filed in 2015. However, in 2018, when the case was reviewed, the man who kept all these animals and allowed them to live in such conditions was acquitted. Now this man has passed away, and behind him stands his mother, who can be seen in the published videos in our possession, moving between corpses and living animals, and showing that she does not understand what is happening.

Looks like it’s her son who’s mostly “took care” about the dozens of animals she “sheltered” in the “hell house” and on the property in Panetolio over the years. “The situation did not arise just now, in two months. It has existed for years, according to the neighbors’ words,” – Mrs. Sotiriadi emphasized.

Dozens of dogs are trapped

In 2015, the animals were found in a much more pitiful condition than now, in a field in Panetolio. Today there are 10 dogs in the same place, which have nowhere to go yet – after all, this requires a decision from the prosecutor. However, Mrs. Sotiriadi and Cordatu feed and care for them.

These dogs lived in cages. Volunteers released them into the wild, and since they still haven’t been able to pick them up, they are caring for them on the spot. The cages, as the two women described to ethnos.gr, were surrounded by plants, which meant they were difficult to approach and “indicates” that the animals were likely constantly hungry.

Second location of evidence. After the estate in Panetolio, they were informed about the pit house. It’s an abandoned site where six dogs and 13 cats were found this year. The dogs – with the exception of one, which, unfortunately, turned out to be dead – were removed by order of the prosecutor, and the kittens were raised in the yard.

In fact, Ms. Sotiriadi told us that they have evidence of other animals living in equally miserable conditions in the house where the family now lives. This has not been verified at this time.

Inside the house is a hellhole

Photos of the hell house are a real nightmare: 10 cats and a small dog were crammed into a small room of less than 30 square meters. There was dirt, animal hair, and dead mice everywhere. As reported by ethnos.gr, the dog that was with the cats ate the corpse of the kitten. In another room of the house the dog was sitting alone. In the pantry of the house there was a bag full of bones and a whole carcass of a dog… The woman claimed that it was “from the food we fed them.” In fact, the floor was strewn with bags, and underneath, apparently, there were other objects, no one knows what they could have been.“There was a constant cracking and cracking sound, like something was breaking.”describes Nicoletta, who entered the house with the owner with the permission of the police.

As you can see in the videos and photographs we have, many of which we have chosen not to publish due to the inhumane, disgusting and cruel imagery, this house was full of garbage, the carcasses of animals that had died many years ago, and years of dirt. .

When it became known that the police would go to the scene to investigate, the mother of the former “keeper” of the animals was spotted “cleaning” inside the house, with eyewitnesses saying they had just seen “many full black bags of trash.” Seeing the authorities, she began to selectively take some of the animals outside.
