Thriller in Menidi: the moment a parked car caught fire, the deceased is a Turkish citizen

A 44-year-old Turkish man is believed to be the man found charred in a car in Menidi, while his wife is said to have filed a domestic violence complaint against him hours earlier.

According to police sources, the man had an argument with his wife on Saturday afternoon at the home where they live in Menidi and then left the house. The woman went to the Acharnon police station to report domestic violence (she even filed a complaint), and the man drove the car to Ionia Avenue in Menidi, where he stayed for about two hours.

Shortly after 9.30 am, the fire brigade was called to a car that was parked at the intersection of Ionia Avenue and Agion Taxiarchon Street and, for an as yet unknown reason, was engulfed in flames. The fire brigade put out the fire and found a charred body inside the car.

The deceased turned out to be a man of Turkish origin with no criminal record. His wife was informed and identified the car and a DNA test will be carried out to officially identify the body. This is due to the fact that the man did not have any identifying features such as a watch, tattoo or ring. Greek police are exploring all possible options, and the local police department is handling the investigation.

At the same time, a second fire that broke out in a parked car on Ioannis Ritsos Street, located a short distance from the first car, two hours after the tragic incident, also came under the radar of the authorities. Police are investigating whether the two incidents are related.
