According to D. Bakoyanni, anyone who does not want to talk to the Turks about the rights of Greece is a “jingoist”

“Hurray-patriots”according to D. Bakoyanni, are those who do not want to talk to the Turks about the rights of Greece.

Dora Bakoyanni named them jingoistic patriots on the occasion of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Athens, in response to a question about what former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said about it.

Answering a question in an interview with Mega about the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Greece and the opinion expressed by Antonis Samaras that “him coming is not the best idea”Dora Bakoyanni responded with these words: “During the Samaras government, visits between Greece and Turkey continued, there were contacts between Samaras and Erdogan on the sidelines of NATO, so all governments adhere to exactly the same policy. Because this is the national interest.”

Among other things, she added that “it’s easy to say no” and blame, and, unfortunately, in Greece healthy patriotism very often finds himself in a weaker position than jingoism. The reality is that Greece has absolute confidence in itself, and what some people express by questioning certain things is as if they do not believe in the arguments of our country, by virtue of international law, and do not believe that Greece is capable of negotiating and at the same time take a defensive position.”

On the issue of same-sex couples, Bakoyanni noted that she understands and respects different approaches, but today everything has changed.

“I am an extremely traditional mother and grandmother, but the reality is that now there are not only traditional two-sex families, but also single-parent families, families with separated parents, and same-sex couples with children. These children, unlike all other children, have no rights. This is because they are recognized as the biological children of only one parent. If one of them dies, the child immediately falls under the care of the social security authorities; he has no right to stay with the other parent, receive an inheritance, or receive alimony in the event of a divorce. These children are harmed by the law, and we must protect them,” Bakoyanni said.

Speaking about the reaction within the party itself, Bakoyanni noted that the same thing happened with the civil partnership agreement: “Some people did not vote for it and even now refer to it.”

About tax legislation

On the tax issue, she said it’s the alpha and omega and we have to be honest: “There is no person who believes that you run a business for 5-10 years and make less money than an unskilled worker.”

“This is unfair to all employees, pensioners, and those who cannot hide any income.”she added.

Asked about the reaction to such bills, Bakoyanni said that it was to be expected, emphasizing that many people understand that this is an attempt to comply with tax laws and that this money “necessary for health care, education”for all sectors that need them.
