The US will buy shells from Greece for Ukraine

The United States is negotiating with Greece to purchase shells for Ukraine. It is planned to purchase 50,000 105mm shells, 20,000 155mm shells and 5,000 larger 203mm shells.

Greek edition of Ekathimerini reportsthat negotiations are underway to purchase 75,000 artillery shells from the stockpiles of the Greek Armed Forces as part of efforts to replenish Ukraine’s ammunition to counter the Russian Federation.

Negotiations are in their final stages. The total cost of the shells, agreed upon by the Greek side, is $47 million. These negotiations were beneficial for the Greek side, not only from the point of view of benefits, since it provides a resource that will be used by the Armed Forces, but also from the point of view that the production of ammunition can be more profitable.

Earlier it was reported that US supplies of NATO-standard artillery shells to Ukraine decreased by more than 30% after the start of Israel’s war against the Palestinian radical group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called on the United States to begin joint production of weapons.
