The new commuter train station will be located in Kryoneri

A key project in the North Attica region is the construction of a new commuter rail station.

The clock is now counting down for the start of construction work on the new station on the Piraeus-Chalkis route. It will be located in Kryoneri, between the already existing Dekeleya and Agios Stefanos stations.

According to the decision published in April 2023, the relevant tender was awarded to AVAX, which granted a discount of 1.42% on a bid of €5,804,255. Now all that remains is to sign an agreement between ERGOSE and the contractor, which will mean the start of work.

The project implementation period is 42 months (3.5 years) from the date of signing the contract, including 18 months for construction and 24 months for mandatory maintenance. During the construction of the Kryoneri railway station, the corresponding infrastructure is provided:

  • Service premises – ticket offices, toilets for passengers (and separately for employees), storage rooms, etc.
  • The level of the end of each platform is built parallel to the grade of the railway track. The width of the apron is 2.50 m and the length is 150 m.
  • Metal air bridge (transition) with stairs and elevator. The height is 7.00 m.

When planning the adjacent territory, construction of roundabouts, parking spaces, delimitation of traffic lanes, laying out paved sidewalks, curbs, etc. is provided.
