How banks will work on holidays leading up to Easter

Supermarkets and banks will remain closed for several days after Easter 2024. The postponement of the May Day holiday changes the normal operation of supermarkets and banks after Easter, adding an extra day of closed shops.

In particular supermarkets closed for three days after Easteron Sunday May 5 (Easter Sunday), Monday May 6 and Tuesday May 7, due to the postponement of May Day.

Let us remind you that mandatory holiday on May 1 coincides with Wednesday of Holy Week. Therefore, according to Ministerial Decision No. 15102 (Government Gazette B' 1406/4.3.2024), it has been postponed to Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Banking transactions will be frozen for six days. In particular, in connection with the Easter holiday and the postponement of the May Day holidays, debt payments and money transfers that will be registered from Thursday 2 May, will be completed on Wednesday 8 Maywhich is considered the next working day.

To run payroll, Wednesday May 8th must be entered in the payroll file as the pay order execution date. The Athens Stock Exchange will be closed on Friday 3 May, Monday 6 May and Tuesday 7 May. How will the stores operate?
