When will the Christmas card be issued? "dear"payments on the eve of holidays

All employees who work in private enterprises and are in a permanent employment relationship (or working under contracts of limited duration), full-time or part-time with any employer, are entitled to a Christmas gift.

The Christmas gift for private sector workers is being paid in less than a month. Owners of companies and enterprises must pay the “gift” to employees by December 21. During the same period Extra benefits are expected to be paid to pensioners, vulnerable groups of the population, families with children and other beneficiaries.

According to current legislation, all employees employed in the private sector have the right to a holiday gift (δώρο Χριστουγέννων).

The Christmas gift is not subject to deductions to EFKA, payroll tax, and when calculating it, the method of remuneration of employees is taken into account, that is, whether they are paid a monthly or daily wage.

Christmas gift for the unemployed
For the unemployed, the gift amount is 479 euros, and the final amount that will be credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts depends on the number of months of subsidized unemployment. Calculation period taken into account DYPAdetermined from May 1. Payments will gradually begin on Monday, December 4th:

  1. Regular benefits, long-term unemployment benefits, as well as payments for the self-employed and individual entrepreneurs.
  2. A Christmas gift is given to recipients of special maternity benefits.

Let us remind you that in December, social solidarity benefits (EEE-KEA) totaling 352 million euros will be provided to 2.3 million vulnerable citizens, said the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis.

Beneficiaries are also pensioners with low incomes. In particular, more than a million pensioners will receive extraordinary assistance in the amount of 150 euros.

Thanks to a new online application created by KPEA, all workers have the opportunity independently calculate the Christmas gift they are entitled to. Calculate the amount you will receive using the link: https://www.kepea.gr/calc-doro-xristoygennon.php.

Thus, employees whose employment relationship with the employer continued continuously during the specified period, i.e. from May 1 to December 31 of each year, are entitled to the full amount of the “Christmas Doro”, which is equal to a month’s salary for salaried employees and 25 days’ wages for those who receive a daily salary (μεροκάματο). However, those of the above employees whose relationship with the employer did not last the entire period (from 1/5 to 31/12), are entitled to receive part of the amountproportional to the duration of the employment relationship.

Clarification about Christmas gift
The Christmas gift must be paid for by December 21st (or earlier). But not later!

  • The basis for calculating the gift is the actual wages paid to employees as of December 10.
  • In case of termination of the employment relationship before the above date, the Christmas gift is calculated based on the wages paid on the day of termination of the employment relationship.
