Kiev Pechersk Lavra switches to the New Julian calendar from November 15

Archimandrite Abraham, acting governor of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, reported on Facebook that she is switching to the New Julian calendar from November 15:

“At the numerous requests of the parishioners of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, with the blessing of the Holy Archimandrite of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius, from November 15 (the beginning of the Nativity Fast) the Lavra switches to using the New Julian calendar, which is the main one for our Local Church.”

Let us remind you that from September 1, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine switched to a new calendar style, it uses the New Julian calendar to calculate fixed holidays. Now the OCU will celebrate Christmas on December 25, not January 7, Intercession on October 1, Epiphany on January 6, and St. Nicholas Day on December 6. The celebration of the moving Easter and the holidays associated with it will remain unchanged.

Parishes and monasteries that wish to adhere to the old calendar will have this opportunity.
