A doctor trying to save a child is fined for driving on a toll road without paying the amount.

An incredible but real incident occurred in Kavala with a doctor who helped a child by performing resuscitation.

The doctor literally rushed to save a child whose life was in danger and drove through the “diodia” without paying the amount, because he was in a hurry. The incident occurred on Ofrini beach in Kavala prefecture in the summer of 2019.

According to GRTimes.gr, the little boy could have died and was saved thanks to the arrival of a doctor who happened to be at the scene. The doctor, who did everything possible, decided that the child’s life was in great danger and he needed to be immediately transferred to the Kavala hospital, since every minute was precious to save him.

In order to gain precious time, and since the ambulance replied that it would arrive at the scene in about an hour, the doctor took upon himself the responsibility of taking the baby to the hospital, having previously informed all authorities, the ambulance, the hospital, and the police.

The ending of the story turned out to be happy, since the child was saved solely thanks to the initiative of a private doctor. However, two years later, this particular doctor received his “reward”, because the company fined him for failure to pay the amount of toll on the highway..

This issue was raised by the Greek media. Representatives of the healthcare sector also commented on the incident. “I admit that he is great,” said the president of the Serres Medical Association, Mr. Angelos Vakalos, commenting on the incident, noting the courage of the doctor, who wished to remain anonymous.

The doctor filed a counterclaim (objection), for which he was again asked for data, and now he is awaiting the final answer: “to pay or not to pay the imposed fine.”
