Prices for traditional Greek sweets, kourabye and melomakarona, look set to upset consumers this year.
The holiday season is approaching and Christmas sweets have already appeared in bakery and confectionery shop windows. However, since inflation has already undermined the family budget, consumers seem frozen, and the demand for sweets is still low.
The price of honey macaroons (melomakarona) starts from 10.90 euros per kilo and, according to a Mega report from a bakery in Likovrisi, efforts are being made to keep it low or at least at the same level as in Last year.
However, according to experts, it cannot be ruled out that the cost of traditional “New Year and Christmas” sweets will reach or even exceed 15 euros per kilogram.
