AI presents creepy little monsters at Greece’s National Day parade

A deformed child leads a parade of schoolchildren on Greek National Day on October 28. The boy’s face and fingers are deformed, and in his hands he is holding something similar to a Greek flag on a bent pole. A cruel joke that combines Greek National Day and American Halloween? Or just a mindless product created by artificial intelligence (AI)?

The tacky image, apparently created in 20 seconds, was posted on X/Twitter on Saturday by a Cypriot Democratic MP who congratulated Greece on the holiday.

“Immortal Greek spirit! Happy return to Greece! Happy return of Hellenism throughout the world!” – she wrote.

As expected, the tweet, which received 223.8k views, went viral, generating a lot of negative reactions and comments, as well as laughter and creativity.

“The parents of little Thanasis burst into anger because of ridicule of their son on social networks: They compare our little angel with a monster!

Many criticized the MP for posting a photo with a flag that is not even Greek and a zombie child holding a sausage. Others slammed her, saying she should be ashamed, newsit.gr reported.

In a new tweet on Monday, MP Christiana Erotokritou described a “graphic error” and apologized “for an inattention that should not have happened.” She has since deleted the controversial tweet.

However, Erotokritou was not the only member of the Cypriot Parliament to upload a distorted image created by artificial intelligence.

The vice-chairman of the same party, Eftymios Diplaros, posted images of children online: little girls with 6 fingers and toes walking next to apparently “dismembered” hands holding a distorted Greek flag, and a student with a creepy face in the background.

In fact, the reason is that the authors of the posts used AI (Most likely we are talking about DALL-E by BING) is that according to the laws of the European Union it is forbidden to photograph and post photographs of children on the Internet. The only exceptions are the media that have received permission from the parents for this matter, or the parents themselves. So the authors are perverted in an effort to avoid lawsuits. Unsuccessful, let’s face it…

“Athens News” also use the services AI DALL-E by BINGto generate images for the topic of publications, however, we still try to select adequate photographs.
