Shoigu: “In 5 days we shot down 24 Ukrainian fighters and 5 helicopters”

Russian troops operating on the territory of Ukraine received anti-aircraft missile systems, which shot down 24 Ukrainian fighters and 5 helicopters in 5 days.

This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, speaking to the command of the Vostok group of the Russian army, stationed in the south of Donetsk.

The Minister of Defense stated: “We have the necessary technical systems in the appropriate positions, with which we shot down a total of 24 fighters in five days.”

The Pentagon is deeply concerned about the suddenly increased effectiveness of the Russian Aerospace Forces. In a short period of time, the Russians staged a real massacre in the skies of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost a significant part of their combat aircraft and helicopters. It is noteworthy that almost all of them were shot down far from the front line.

Military expert Vladislav Shurygin: The Pentagon was sharply concerned about the suddenly increased effectiveness of the Russian Aerospace Forces. In two weeks, the Russians staged a real massacre in the skies of Ukraine. The Ukrainian armed forces lost at least 10 of their aircraft (according to other sources, 14), and all of them were shot down far from the front line, outside the range of Russian air defense systems, and also outside the standard range of Russian fighters. Those pilots who managed to eject reported that until the moment their planes were hit, they did not receive information about the attack from the appropriate warning systems. The Americans believe that the Russian aerospace forces have received new missiles capable of not only hitting targets at a great distance, but also, after launch, independently pursuing the target without illuminating it with the aircraft’s radar, using a radio signal to point it (the target). Now Americans carefully check this information and consider it critically important. Because if it is confirmed, it will mean that the Russians have received a weapon that will neutralize all the advertised advantages of their new main fighter, the F-35.

How true the information is is another question; the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not confirm Shoigu’s statement, although it does not yet refute it. In any case, this makes the Western coalition think about sending F-16s to Ukraine, since they fear that some of them could fall into Russian hands, and the image of American aircraft shot down by Russian air defense systems or Russian fighters will create a serious problem for the image (and shares) American company Lockheed Corporation, which produces the F-16 aircraft. This could be similar to what recently happened with the German Leopard tanks, which showed themselves in battles in Ukraine to be in many ways no better than the old Soviet tanks.
