Market pass will be extended until the end of the year for residents of affected areas of Greece

The Greek government has decided to provide financial support to residents of areas affected by recent severe weather events.

The amendment was included in the bill of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The provision of the law provides for the provision of financial support in November and December for households eligible for financial support in accordance with article 46 of Law 5045/2023 and which, as of September 5, 2023, had their main place of residence in the specified disaster-affected areas . The support is aimed at covering part of the increased costs of purchasing essential goods, especially food. The amount of assistance will reach 305 thousand euros.

A special regime for the provision of said financial assistance is also established (tax-free, inalienable and free from inclusion in the “income limit”, does not affect the payment of any social benefits or benefits, etc.).

The project aims to help people affected by severe natural phenomena in Thessaly and other regions of Greece. Natural disasters affecting areas covered by the new amendment to the law have led to a decline in overall economic activity and, as a result, a decline in the disposable income of those affected. Given the increased costs of purchasing basic necessities, it is considered necessary to provide financial support to the households in question.

The regulation under evaluation provides financial support to residents of areas affected by recent severe weather events by subsidizing a portion of the purchases they make to meet basic living needs. List of districts:
