Police raid brothels in central Athens


Special inspections of brothels in the center of Athens were carried out by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Human Trafficking of the Attica Police Department.

Inspections were carried out in 4 brothels to identify victims of human trafficking and the legality of their activities. Police arrested 9 women and took them to the Athens prosecutor’s office.

At the same time, the Athens Security Directorate conducted an extensive police operation over two days, from 11 to 12 October 2023, to combat “street crimes.” During operations carried out by law enforcement officers in the presence of bailiffs, in the areas of Nea Smyrni, Kallithea, Acropolis, Agios Dimitrios and Omonia, 15 people were arrested and another 20 people were identified, involved in:

  • 18 thefts from apartments,
  • 11 robberies,
  • 8 house break-ins,
  • 3 theft of cars and motorcycles,
  • 2 thefts from stores, businesses, etc.,
  • 7 thefts from passenger car interiors.
