The fate of the hostages taken by Hamas remains unclear (video)

Approximately one hundred families have information that their loved ones are in Gaza after being abducted by militants.

“I can’t think about much because I’ll be torn apart. I want my mother, my sister, my nieces, I want them to be here. I don’t understand how all this nightmare could have happened?”

12-year-old Frenchman Eitan may have been kidnapped and is in Gaza. On Saturday he was with his sister at her home, a few hundred meters from Gaza. Together with their mother, they were kidnapped by Hamas militants on two motorcycles. The boy’s sister and mother managed to escape, where he is is unknown. Eitan’s aunt Ayala Yahalomi Luzon says:

“The motorcycle with his mother stopped, and the one with Eitan passed. From that moment on, we know nothing more. That was the last eye contact between the mother and Eitan. They were in pajamas, and that’s how they were taken.”

Relatives of several American-Israeli hostages turned to the Israeli and US governments for help. Ayana Neta, daughter of Hamas kidnapped Adrienne, says:

“My mother is an exceptional person. She worked most of her life as a community nurse and then as a hospital midwife. When she walked into the delivery room, she saw a person. Not a religion. Not a race.”

Israeli authorities believe about 150 hostages are being held in Gaza, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations said late Monday.

IN conversation CNN’s Gilad Erdan said that while authorities hope those being held will return home safely, their situation will not “prevent us from doing what we need to do to secure Israel’s future”:

“We expect that the Red Cross, all the international organizations will focus on these hostages and how they are being treated and that they are receiving treatment in accordance with international law, but that will not stop us, will not stop us from doing what “We need to secure the future of Israel. Of course we want to see all our boys, girls, grandmothers, everyone who was kidnapped, we want to see them home, but now we are focused on our national strategy – destroying the terrorist potential of Hamas.”

Hamas said civilian hostages would be executed and the killings would be broadcast live if Israel attacked people in the Gaza Strip without warning. The group claims to be holding more than 100 hostages, including Israeli army officers.

Hamas military spokesman Abu Ubeida said that in response to every “light strike” and house bombing by Israel, the group would execute one civilian prisoner. At the same time, journalists write that the Israeli military has decided to strike the Gaza Strip even in cases where this would potentially pose a threat to the hostages held there.
