Greece: a return with tears in our eyes

“They enter houses and kill children, dogs, grandparents,” the Greeks repatriated from Israel recall with tears in their eyes.

With unimaginable relief that it was all over for them, they say:

“We were in the shelter the whole time. We heard the rockets, we saw smoke in the sky, we were tired.”

Arriving yesterday evening, October 10, at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, they found themselves in the arms of eagerly awaiting family and friends, writes newsbeast.gr.

The Greeks who returned to their homeland experience noticeable excitement and admit that they will never forget the sound of sirens that constantly sounded in their ears and the explosions of rockets. They noted that their thoughts will be with those who remained in the hell of war and emphasized that they were lucky – they were able to leave. “We heard rockets and sirens, saw smoke in the sky in Jerusalem,” says one of those who arrived. And a very young man said that his room there was a refuge for him:

“Bad things are happening, the bombs did not reach our houses, but we heard a lot of them. My father wanted us to leave to feel safer. Every day many people are killed. They come to houses and kill children, dogs, grandmothers and grandfathers. Do they believe in God, what kind of God is this?”
