Chalkidiki: woman received 11 months in prison for biting a police officer

A 65-year-old woman from Chalkidiki bit a policeman who tried to issue her a fine and appeared in court in Thessaloniki.

It all happened in Nea Kallikratia (Chalkidiki) last Tuesday, September 26th. The lady parked her car in such a way that it blocked the road for those already parked. According to a police officer in court, the defendant refused to remove or position the car differently, saying that she needed to pick up groceries.

The policeman warned the woman that she would be fined. In response, the lady began to push him away from the car and strike him without getting out of the car, and when the law enforcement officer tried to restrain her hands, she bit his finger. Even after this, the man had to get two preventive vaccinations.

Yesterday, October 5, the accused of inflicting minor bodily harm on a police officer while on duty found herself in the dock at the Thessaloniki Motor Vehicle Court σσαλονίκης), writes CNN Greece.

In her defence, she stated that her car was not in the way of other cars, she was only going to be gone for a few minutes, and the bite was an “instant reaction” as she felt fear at the sight of the policeman.

The lady’s testimony did not convince the judges, and they, finding her guilty, issued a verdict: 11 months in prison with a suspended sentence of three years.
