After the sailors were rescued, they were picked up by an ambulance and taken to a hospital in Nicaea (Νίκαιας). The examination showed writes CNN Greece that the men are fine. One of those who fell into the sea, Nikos Vasilakas, says:

“We avoided the worst. We slipped, hit something and fell into the sea. The second employee was hospitalized but is not in danger. I want to give a thumbs up and thank the Coast Guard guys who jumped into the water and saved us.”

The two men could have fallen onto the concrete from a height of several meters, risking death. Nikos says: “The necessary safety measures were not taken because we were not even wearing helmets. It’s good that we avoided the worst.”
