Hackers hacked Russian reservation system database

The Sirena-Travel database, hacked by Ukrainian hackers, contains information on hundreds of millions of air travel. Names, telephone numbers and passenger document numbers were obtained.

The booking system contains information about flights for 16 years. The message appeared in the telegram channel of the hacker community KibOrg, writes edition “Important Stories”, *. An unknown group, the Muppets, associated with KibOrg, is behind the hack.

Hackers report that the two databases obtained contain 3.5 billion records of passengers’ phone numbers and 664.6 million records of their personal data, flight numbers, routes, fares, ticket prices, etc. for the period since 2007 until 2023.

Two “probes” of databases posted by hackers have appeared on the Internet. Journalists found in them, for example, data on the flights of the former head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry and ex-member of the board of directors of Rosneft Karin Kneisl, who moved to the Russian Federation in the summer of 2023. Data about her movement coincide with Kneissl’s public reports about her flight to an economic forum from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok on September 10 this year.

Georgy Alburov from Alexei Navalny’s team writes that he was able to verify the authenticity of the base by checking data on the recent flight of Alina Kabaeva, who is close to Vladimir Putin, from Minsk to Moscow.

A source in the hacker group noted that KibOrg does not plan to make the entire database publicly available. Two options are being considered: creating a bot that will aggregate data on bases for money, or transferring bases to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Hackers are also willing to share information with investigative journalists.

“Sirena-Travel” is the operator of the Soviet system “Sirena” (short for “Airline Reservation System”). The company spun off from the Main Computing Center for Civil Aviation. The database contains information about all bookings and sales of air tickets in the country, baggage check-in, insurance policies, and so on.
