The implementation of road safety measures introduced by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Mr. Yiannis Ikonomou, is progressing at a rapid pace.
The initiative aims to renew, modernize and strengthen police forces involved in traffic enforcement. Checks on illegal parking are a central part of this policy. As can be seen in the footage, inspectors pick up a small electric screwdriver and immediately quickly remove license plates from parked vehicles (see video). Data shows that 15 central avenues and streets of Attica have a problem double parking.
Intensified checks were carried out, and over the previous two days authorities recorded 266 violations, leading to fines and phased confiscation actions. To be more precise, on Monday 125 violations were recorded on various roads, and on Tuesday their number increased to 141. Everything shows that these are not one-time actions, but a plan that will be implemented to improve the daily lives of citizens.
