Santorini: 9 people arrested for drug trafficking


Police have dismantled two gangs involved in trafficking cocaine, crack and cannabis in Santorini.

Nine people (four foreigners and five Greeks), aged 29, 33, 43, 47, 24, 26, 32, 51 and 26 years old, were arrested during a police operation carried out on Saturday 09/09/23 in Santorini and Tinos. A criminal case has been opened against them on charges of creating a criminal organization, supply, storage and trafficking of drugs, laundering money received from illegal activities, and possession of weapons. Another 111 people are involved in the same case, three of whom are direct accomplices of those arrested.

According to ELASafter several months of investigation, processing of data and information, parallel activities and modus operandi of two gangs operating together were established.

As it turned out during the police investigation, since at least the end of 2022, two gangs, led by a 29-year-old and a 33-year-old foreigner, operated in parallel and simultaneously trafficked drugs (cocaine, marijuana, etc.) supplied by a 43-year-old member groupings and sold to consumers in Santorini at a good profit. One of the two gangs used the money for a car rental business.

During the investigations, the following were discovered and confiscated from the criminals:

  • Cocaine weighing 98.5 grams
  • Cannabis weighing 20.7 grams
  • MDMA weighing 29 grams
  • Heroin weighing 4 grams
  • Laboratory equipment for production
  • 4 precision scales
  • 5 cannabis grinders
  • Air pistol and 3 knives.
  • 33 mobile phones and 21 SIM cards
  • 2 cars
  • Amounts 7385 euros, 147 US dollars, 50 Australian dollars, 40 British pounds.
  • Values
  • Handwritten notes with names and dosages of medications.
  • Digital media and computer
  • Drug use devices

As ELAS found, one of the gang members built a laboratory for the production of “crack” by processing and “cooking” cocaine in order to increase the gang’s income from the illegal trafficking of this “product.” Those arrested were taken to the Naxos District Court.
