Dramatic situation on the Pinios River. According to the competent authorities and the municipality of Larisa, the water height in the river reached 10 meters above normal level. Rescuers continue to work, including on boats, to save residents. The operations involve dozens of volunteers who, together with the services of the municipality of Larissa, continue to fill bags with sand used to build dams where necessary to protect as many houses as possible.
At the same time, huge tracts of land, homes and businesses remain flooded in Thessaly. 12 dead – this is the tragic death toll from Cyclone Daniel.
A dramatic situation has also developed in Palamas-Karditsa, where almost the entire municipality is still submerged in water and mud. Rescuers are trying their best to save those who remain trapped, while no one can predict the scale of destruction of houses, crops and infrastructure. Volunteers are distributing water and food to residents left without electricity, while most villages in Palamas remain without electricity or water.
