Mitsotakis’ appearance at the ΔΕΘ annual conference is cancelled.

The head of the Greek government canceled his visit to the International Conference in Thessaloniki due to raging bad weather and the need to be present in flood-affected regions. The dates and schedule of the 87th ΔΕΘ have also been changed.

According to information, the general program of the visit of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, previously planned for the coming weekend, will be postponed, since the Prime Minister is expected to be in areas where natural disasters occurred due to bad weather these days.

Visits of ministers and government officials to the 87th ΔΕΘ conference have also been cancelled. Before the onset of bad weather, a total of 1,500 exhibitors and 18 international participants were expected to attend the 87th ΔΕΘ. Bulgaria appears as the guest of honor with 60 representative companies. Typically, ΔΕΘ discusses the main directions of the government’s economic policy and measures to support the population and business, as well as other pressing issues.

Since the start of its term, the government has had to cope with a number of difficult events – first fires and now floods. Events related to natural disasters in Thessaly led the Prime Minister to decide not to give a speech, as usually happens in Vellidio (Βελλίδειο), and to hold a press conference on Sunday. In addition, the visit planned by Mr. Mitsotakis to Evros has been postponed.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit the Integrated Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management (ESKEDIK) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection on Thursday, September 7, to keep up to date with the authorities’ actions in the fight against the storm.
