A Greek ‘grandmother’ has gone viral on TikTok: she lulled a tourist’s daughter on the subway to stop her from crying.
Dietitian Dina posted on her TikTok account a video of her walk through the center of Athens when she came to our country on vacation with her husband, mother and their 19-month-old daughter Harper. As the foreigner says in the video footage, she was with her family on the subway when her daughter started crying. Then an unknown woman, a Greek woman, took little Harper in her arms and tried to comfort the child.
In the post, Dina wrote the following: “Good people exist, especially when traveling with a child.” Only a Greek grandmother could do such a thing, which is why the video posted on the Internet went viral.
Of course, we do not in the least detract from the kindness of all the grandmothers in the world, however, without asking permission from the parents, without spending a single minute thinking, the grandmother took the baby in her arms and began to “aunt” her. In the countries of northern Europe, such an act of a woman would be ambiguously regarded. There the person is untouchable, and especially children.
And the grandmother … that’s why she is a grandmother, in order to behave this way – to cradle her grandchildren. Even if not their own. In Greece, there are still many people who act simply “like a human being,” according to the “call of the heart.” And in the northern countries, it seems that everyone has already been weaned from being kind-hearted …
