Greek and Indian prime ministers meet in Megaro Maximos

Today, August 25, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis meets with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi – high expectations from the talks.

Earlier, Mr. Modi was received by the President of the Republic of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou. During a meeting with her, the Prime Minister of India expressed his regret over the fires raging in the country, noting: “Climate change is a global issue that affects all of us.”

After the one-on-one meeting between the two prime ministers, there will be extended talks between the Greek and Indian delegations, followed by press statements.

The visit of an Indian head of government is taking place for the first time in forty years. Mr. Modi emphasizes that this meeting “opens a new chapter in the multifactorial relationship between the two countries.” The visit is of great business interest as the Prime Minister of India is accompanied by leading businessmen of the country who will hold meetings with Greek businessmen, writes CNN Greece.

The organization of the “agenda” was taken over by Kostas Fragoyannis, Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of economic diplomacy and extraversion, and Alexis Patelis, head of the financial department of the general secretariat of the presidium of the New Democracy government, Prime Minister.

Mr. Mitsotakis, in an article published in The Times of India on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit today, urges Indian businesses to look for new opportunities in ports, airports, technology, logistics centers, infrastructure, energy and renewable sources:

“Greece, located at the crossroads of three continents and being a Member State EU and NATO, ideally suited to be India’s gateway to Europe. As we welcome Prime Minister Modi to Greece to launch our strategic partnership, I am convinced that after more than 2500 years of interaction and exchange, the best is yet to come in Greek-Indian relations. Finding common ground in our common future will be an advantage for both our countries. And most importantly, it can and will be a legacy that will benefit the whole world.”
