Greece will transfer its anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, or a scandal in the Greek parliament (video)

Greece decided to cancel the contract with Russia for the maintenance of the Tor-M1 and Osa-AKM air defense systems, which are in service with the Greek army, and transfer the systems to Ukraine, as it became known due to the leak of secret documents in parliament.

Referring to a top-secret document “leaked” through parliament, this writes Pronews.gr. It says, the publication claims, that Athens will no longer purchase spare parts and components for the Tor-M1 and Osa-AKM air defense systems. The support contract with Russia has also been terminated for the S-300PMU1.

For this reason, these complexes may soon be withdrawn from service – the available spare parts will last only a few months due to their small number and the refusal of the Greek government to fulfill the current contract.

The Greek Army and Air Force are armed with 21 Tor-M1 self-propelled air defense systems and 38 Osa-AKM self-propelled systems, with a maximum firing range of 10-12 km. The contract for further system support in subsequent years is more than 102 million euros. The publication claims that these air defense systems will most likely be transferred to Ukraine through third countries, and the decision is “purely political.”

Recall that top secret documents on the course of Greece’s arms programs were made public yesterday. Error? Negligence? Conscious action? In the public domain turned out to be a documentwhich contains weapons programs and priorities.

This event was preceded by a question from PASOK MP from Corfu Dimitris Byagis asking for information on the progress of weapons programs, which was followed by a response from the Minister of National Defense of Greece Nikos Dendias:

“With regard to the requested data on the planned programming of the general staffs to promote the main weapons programs, it is noted that these programs are marked “SECRET” and therefore cannot be disclosed.”

And… the document was published on the official website of the Parliament! That is, the document became the answer of N. Dendias to the question of the deputy from PASOK. The same document that N. Dendias himself called confidential!

In continuation of the response to the deputy, the Minister of Defense writes that “the elements of the competence of the Ministry of Defense / GDAEE regarding the tasks that were completed in the period 2019-2022 for the main equipment programs, as well as priority equipment programs ΕΔ, are indicated in the attached tables.”

However, due to someone’s mistake, secret tables with the latest 43 weapons programs were publicly posted on the website of the Parliament! And it is worth saying that this is not the first mistake of the Ministry of Defense with secret documents. Recently, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nikos Hardalias was seen in a photo looking at a secret map with 873 AK fuel depot.
