Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the affected areas of Parnita on Friday 25 August.
Representatives of the fire service briefed him on firefighting operations involving ground and air forces. The Prime Minister was able to see in reality the full picture of disasters and destruction.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis was accompanied by Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias, Secretary General of Civil Protection Vassilis Papageorgiou, Head of the Fire Department Lieutenant General Christos Lambris, Director General of Forests and Forest Ecology of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Vangelis Guntufas. Implemented and ongoing projects were discussed to expand fire zones created before the start of the fire season, and further strengthen protection measures.
