On Tuesday morning, August 8, in the sea area of Falconera Island in Myrtoos Pelagos (southern Aegean Sea), the Greek authorities carried out a rescue operation for about 50 migrants.
The Coast Guard was informed of the immobilization of the ship, and other boats passing by Milos rushed to the scene. Rescue coordinators also arrived in a Coast Guard helicopter. As it became known, some migrants who were on a shipwrecked ship managed to swim to the shore. The rest are on the ship waiting for the Coast Guard.

Recall that in Greece, almost every day, the news reports talk about the arrival of illegal migrants by sea. Alas, the situation regarding the rescue of migrants is not so unambiguous. Recently, the country’s law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case against MKO, non-governmental organizations involved in rescuing illegal immigrants. As it turned out during the investigation, they themselves “managed” the flow of refugees and took a lot of money for their “help”.
