Since Saturday, rains and storms, a drop in air temperature

The new heatwave that has already gripped Greece will peak in the next few hours on Friday 4/8. However, the weather will change significantly from the end of Saturday (5/8).

According to the forecast of meteorologists, the peak of a new wave of high temperatures is expected on Friday (04.08) and Saturday (05.08), when in some places the maximum temperature will exceed 40 degrees Celsius. However, subsequently the picture will change, and even significantly.

In particular, from Saturday afternoon, an atmospheric front carrying colder air masses will affect the weather in northwestern Greece, and then cover the entire north of the country. This will lead to local showers and thunderstorms. Wherein the north wind will gradually increase and the air temperature will drop, which will be more noticeable from Sunday 6 August.

A cold weather front brings rain and storms. The weather that will follow after the end of the heat wave is evidenced by the post of EMY director Thodoris Kolidas, who wrote on social networks that from Saturday noon, a cold front coming from the northwest will cause local rains and storms, strengthening the wind. The air temperature will drop significantly, which will be more noticeable from Sunday. In other words, the warm air front currently prevailing over the Balkans and especially in our country will be displaced.

On Saturday 5 Augusta change in weather is expected from the pre-noon hours in the northern part of the Ionian Sea and Epirus and gradually in the rest of the western country of Macedonia and possibly in the western and northern parts of Thessaly and central Sterea. Cloudy, showers and storms are expected. Bad weather in some places will strongly manifest itself. Maybe hail will fall.

Improvement is expected in the evening hours in the west. In other areas, the weather is generally clear. Wind variable, south/southwest direction, force 4 to 6 on the Beaufort scale. In the Ionian Sea, Epirus and Western Sterea, the temperature will drop and will not exceed +32-34°C. In the rest of the country the temperature will reach +34-36°С. In places on the mainland and islands of the eastern part of the Aegean, the thermometer will show + 37-39 ° С, and in Thessaly and the eastern part of the mainland + 40 ° С.

Sunday, August 6, in central and eastern Macedonia overcast, rain and thunderstorms. In other regions of Greece, the weather is generally clear. Visibility in the morning hours in the western continental regions will be locally limited. Westerly wind force 4 to 6-7 on the Beaufort scale. Temperatures across the country will drop.

On Monday, August 7, generally clear weather will prevail. Wind west / northwest 3-5 points, in some places up to 6 points on the Beaufort scale.
The air temperature will not noticeably change.

Tuesday, August 8, the weather will be generally clear, partly cloudy in the afternoon in continental areas. North wind, force 4-6 on the Beaufort scale. In the east, the air temperature will drop slightly.
