Marios Kutrumbanu, who was injured in the collapse of a bridge in Patras, recalls: “We heard a blow and did not have time to get out” – when a section of the structure fell, they were thrown onto the stones.
Now being treated in the hospital, in an interview with reporters, he says:
“When the bridge fell, we were thrown onto the stones. As soon as we heard the blow, without receiving an order to evacuate, we went to evacuate on our own, but did not have time. Those of us who were below and chopped were ordered to leave, but suddenly we heard a hammer blow, on the third blow the bridge fell, and everyone was flattened.”
