The building of the Consulate of Greece was damaged by a rocket attack on Odessa

The Greek consulate and another 50 buildings in the center of Odessa were damaged on the night of July 23 by five types of missiles on the port city.

Among them are 25 architectural monuments and the Greek consulate, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday:

“In general, almost 50 houses were damaged in Odessa this night alone, 25 of them are architectural monuments. The historical center, a world heritage that UNESCO took under its protection. The building of the Consulate of Greece was also damaged. This is the second consular office that was affected by Russian terror.”

The President recalled that this was not the first diplomatic mission to suffer – a few days ago, on July 20, the Chinese Consulate General suffered from a Russian strike on Odessa. He also noted that the altar of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Odessa, one of the most valuable cathedrals in Ukraine, was hit by a Russian Kh-22 anti-ship missile:

“In 1936, the Bolsheviks plundered and destroyed it. Already in independent Ukraine, the cathedral was restored, and now the terrorists are trying to destroy it again.”

The President assured that the cathedral would definitely be restored:

“The main thing is that despite any attempts to break our state and our people, we clearly know that we, Ukraine, have a future, because we defend culture and humanity. Russia, with its terror, brings only one thing closer – its dismantling from history.”

Vladimir Zelensky clarified, writes “UP” that as a result of a strike on the historical center of Odessa on Sunday night, one person died, 20 were injured, including four children: 11, 12 years old and two 17-year-olds.
