A brutal robber left a bloodied old man in the middle of the street

The horrific incident took place around 13:30 on Saturday (22/7) on Efstratiou Pissa Street, where a 70-year-old man lived.

At the moment the robber entered the apartment, an elderly man was in the kitchen, but the dog noticed the stranger, barking, and he went inside the house to see what was happening there. There he saw a thief. A hand-to-hand fight ensued, which, starting inside the dwelling, continued outside its walls. During the fight, the assailant hit the elderly man on the head with a chain and left him to bleed in the middle of the street.

A few minutes later, a patrol car arrived at the scene. The police gave the man first aid until an EKAB ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital.

The criminal fled on the subway, and the forces ΕΛΑΣ began to look for the attacker in a wider area. Approximately two hours later, an Immediate Action Team patrol located the perpetrator at the Syngrou-Fix metro station and handcuffed him.

The detainee was taken to the Acropolis security department, where it was determined that he was a 30-year-old drug addict. The robber was identified by an elderly man. A criminal case has been initiated.
