Greeks rushed to holidays: increase in passenger traffic in the ports of Piraeus and Rafina


According to data released by the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, passenger traffic in the ports of Piraeus and Rafina increased significantly in the first two weeks of July.

In particular, the percentage increase is 10.63% for Piraeus and 11.33% for Rafina compared to the same period last year. For the period from 1.7.23 to 16.7.2023, the port of Piraeus recorded an increase in passenger traffic compared to 2022 by 10.63%, cars 6.79%, trucks 5.45% and two-wheelers 9.82%.

743,492 passengers (672,068 in 2022), 92,081 cars (86,223), 21,625 trucks (20,508) and 18,973 two-wheelers (17,277 in 2022) left the port of Piraeus in the first 15 days of July this year.

At the same time, the port of Rafina recorded an increase in passenger traffic over the same period compared to last year by 11.33%, cars by 12.92%, trucks by 6.89% and two-wheeled vehicles by 2.97%.

In total, in the first 15 days of July 2023, 178,002 passengers (159,881 in 2022), 32,476 cars (28,761), 2,582 trucks (2,773) and 3,361 two-wheelers (3,264 in 2022) left the port of Rafina.
